Dyab Abou Jahjah

Why do we Arabs and Muslims seem to be more moved and mobilised by Palestine than any other conflict or cause? A question that is often asked by friends and by foes of the Palestinian cause, and that I will answer in this short essay.  

But first of all let me rub this one in the face of the Zionists and their fan-club: you really thought that we forgot about Palestine? You really thought that you got us right where you wanted us killing one another over sectarian strives in an array of civil wars and unrest and therefore you can now slaughter our people in Palestine silently? I think by now you do realize that making us forget Palestine is a hopeless endeavour, and that normalizing your crimes will never happen. You will always be unmasked as the criminal, colonial, racist entity you are as awareness is growing everyday among other peoples all across the planet.

Als antwoord op mijn boek, " de stad is van ons"  schreef Rik van Cauwelaert een column voor de tijd, waar hij nu zijn centen verdient, onder de tittel, de visioenen van Abou jahjah dat u hier kunt lezen. Daarin etaleert hij naast een mislukte poging tot humor, een staaltje stemmingmakerij op basis van ad hominem nep-argumenten, halve waarheden en regelrechte leugens. Het is een poging tot karaktermoord, een gefaalde zwakke poging weliswaar.  Ik kreeg het advies van velen om de man te negeren want hij zou al een “has been” zijn, en bovendien schrijft hij in functie van zijn banden met een aantal NVA boegbeelden die woedend zijn over mijn nieuwe boek “ De stad is van ons” maar ook over mijn statements in de Media over het onderbuiksracisme binnen die partij.   
Toch wil ik de mening van de man het respect gunnen om ontkracht te worden door argumenten en feiten zonder mij tot het niveau van dat stuk te verlagen natuurlijk.
