Diversity is something we all have to deal with. Be it in our private lives or in our professional environment. Whether in the public or private sector, an individual or a collective cannot thrive without acquiring the necessary set of skills that will enable them to function in a diverse environment. Although there is little debate about the need for people to engage positively with diversity in the workplace, the very definition of both diversity and the positive approach to it remain a matter of debate. Lately, a more ideologically driven approach to diversity management has taken root among most training providers and consequently has made its way into many companies and organisations. In addition, the diversity charters dictated by governments and the European Union contain disputed ideological notions presented as if they were an unbiased and ethical truth. This trend is both ideological and political. As a consequence, many CEOs are dismissing diversity training and diversity awareness altogether. Others undergo the ideology to maintain a certain image. Both choices are not very positive and will eventually lead to problems.
Because we cannot throw away the child of diversity and respect with the dirty water of Woke, Dyab Abou Jahjah has created "Awake not Woke", a non-ideological training module for diversity management and diversity awareness. The aim of the training is to make people aware of issues such as racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia, while also indicating what is valid in terms of fairness and respect and what is ideological, extreme and to be dismissed. "Awake not Woke" will also provide you with a set of tools to better manage diversity in your company or institution without falling into the pitfalls of ideology and polarisation. If you are interested, feel free to contact us using the form on this page, so that we can jointly search for the right formula to suit your company or organisation. |
