Dark Place

Picture

I float into the dark place, calm as a rainstorm, afore the clouds.
Where it all started, and it all will end. This lost face of mine, seen at last, in the shattered crystal of a thousand mirrors.
----
The exodus of the soul, bit by bit, dream by dream, is hummed to me, one elusive tune at a time.
Let the rituals begin, the awakening of the end. In the shadow of the man, the boy returns, into his crib, combing his grey hairs, sucking his thumb.
----
Search the black hole, on the reef of the soul, with sinking ships, without a shore. Laying so deep, with anchored dreams, which need no sleep.
They all will go, they all will leave, nothing remains, but shattered ships, bursting in flames, and words of love, that haunt our graves.
----
Into the night, we hush our sleep, into the dark that has begun, before the light, the cruel light.
Hush me to sleep, my lullaby, hush me to sleep this one last time.

Maybe…
If I were to be a burst of light on the face of the ocean,
 when you are sinking, deep,
 into the darkness…

Maybe…
If you wandered the rode that I forsook,
and went as far as boredom goes, in a lonely heart,
then went beyond the empty realm of space and time…

Maybe…
If I was the one to yield, to flee a fight,
to break an oath, or fear a might, of friend or foe…
you would then shed your light on me, my darkest side,
and open up your gaze, so wide,
to see beyond the sight of eyes, into my shell…
and then behold, what made you me, and made me you, deprived of place, beyond the time.

Maybe then you’d kneel and pray, to me, my lord,
You’d let me be.
